Job Description:

GENERAL DUTY TECHNOLOGIST, EEG

Clinical Neurophysiology Lab

Medicine Program

BARGAINING UNIT: Technical / Professional Paramedical Unit

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Program Team Manager, Subspecialty Medicine, and receiving clinical direction from the Medical Director, Clinical Neurophysiology and the Charge Technologist, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St.

Boniface General Hospital, the GENERAL DUTY TECHNOLOGIST, EEG is responsible for: for performing EEG's in the laboratory and at the bedside of critically ill patients in the intensive care units, according to established protocols; abiding by codes of Professional Conduct; carrying out peer/trainee functional instruction, if required; and performing other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited Electroneurdiagnostic Technology program.

Eligible for/or has achieved successful completion of the examination for registration by the Canadian Board Registration of Electro-encephalographic Technologists (CBRET).

Current registration with CBRET required.

 

SPECIAL TRAINING/SKILLS:

Knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology.

General knowledge of EEG instrumentation, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions which influence EEG required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

One(1) year experience as a technologist in an EEG Laboratory working with neonate and adult patient populations.
